Beanbag - for a cleaner better life

The Bidston & North Birkenhead Environmental Action Group (aka the BNBEAG or Beanbag) was originally set up simply as a one off litter pick for around fourteen kids to teach them a little responsibility and about why we shouldn't drop litter. Now, over three years later, we are a community lead, multi agency partnership whose role within the community is to share the responsibility of educating and preventing littering, fly tipping and graffiti amongst other environmental issues. We work with any number of groups including Wirral Borough Council, Wirral Partnership Homes and West Cheshire Cleaning Services as well as the Wirral Community and Voluntary Sectors' Network to try and create a cleaner better life. Through funding, sponsorship and donated resources, we carry out a number of initiatives within the Bidston & North Birkenhead Area to clear illegally tipped waste and highlight ways that households can dispose of their unwanted items responsibility and legally.

Annually we hold our very own three day environmental event which includes a litter pick, community clean-up and an open air environmental awareness day with live music, competitions and activities for people of all ages. Through a combination of hard work, commitment and community spirit we have achieved so much and we have no intention of slowing down.
